Terms of Use
Medows is a personal clinical workspace for licensed medical professionals — a place to hold your patient list, track vitals and tasks between beds, and ask an AI questions grounded in the patient in front of you. These terms explain who may use it, what it is and is not, what we do with the clinical data you enter, and where responsibility sits when AI is involved in your work. They are written to be read by a doctor in a hurry rather than by a lawyer.
Acceptance
By creating an account or using Medows, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Our Privacy Policy forms part of this agreement and describes in detail what data we collect, where it is stored, and who can see it. If you use Medows on behalf of a department or unit, you confirm you have the authority to accept these terms for the colleagues you invite into your team.
Nature of the service
- Medows is a personal clinical productivity tool for licensed medical professionals.
- It is not an Electronic Health Record (EHR), hospital information system, or certified medical device.
- It is not intended to replace official hospital documentation systems.
- It has not been reviewed, cleared, or certified by any medical device or health IT regulator, and nothing in it should be treated as a validated clinical calculator or an approved decision-support system.
- It is not an emergency service. Do not rely on Medows for time-critical escalation, alarms, or any workflow where a delay or an outage could harm a patient. Your hospital’s existing channels remain the system of record.
Eligibility
You must be a licensed medical professional (doctor, nurse, or authorized clinical staff) to use Medows. By signing in, you represent that you are authorized to handle patient health information in your professional capacity. Medical students, interns, and trainees may use Medows only within the scope of a supervised clinical attachment. Medows is not intended for patients, carers, or the general public, and is not offered to anyone under 18.
Your account
- Accounts are personal. Do not share your login, and do not let another clinician work under your identity — the audit trail on every note, order, and handover is attributed to the signed-in account.
- Keep your device locked and your session signed out on shared or ward computers. Anyone with access to your unlocked session can read every patient on your list.
- Tell us promptly at alapan@medows.ai if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else.
AI disclaimer
- Medows provides AI-generated clinical suggestions, summaries, and task recommendations powered by third-party AI models.
- These are for reference and informational purposes only.
- AI outputs do not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations.
- All clinical decisions are solely your responsibility as the treating physician.
- Always apply your professional judgment and verify AI suggestions against established clinical guidelines.
- Language models can be confidently wrong. They can misread a unit, invent a citation, or carry an assumption forward from earlier in a conversation. Treat every drug name, dose, rate, and interval as unverified until you have checked it against your formulary or protocol.
- To answer a question about a patient, the relevant parts of that patient’s record are sent to a third-party AI provider. The Privacy Policy sets out exactly what is sent. If your institution prohibits this, do not use the AI features.
User responsibilities
- You are responsible for all patient data you enter into Medows.
- Do not enter government-issued identification numbers, patient contact details, financial information, or any data beyond what is clinically necessary.
- You must comply with your hospital or institution’s data handling and privacy policies.
- You are responsible for managing access — sharing patients with other doctors or adding nurses to your team.
- Where your local rules require it, keep the official record up to date independently. Medows is a working surface, not the legal record of care.
Sharing and team access
Sharing a patient with another doctor, or adding a nurse to your team, grants that person access to clinical data you entered. You are responsible for deciding that the person is entitled to see it, and for removing access when the attachment, posting, or shift rotation ends. We do not verify the credentials or the employment of the people you invite.
Acceptable use
- Do not use Medows for any patient you are not clinically involved with, or to look up a record out of curiosity.
- Do not attempt to access another user’s account or data, probe the service for vulnerabilities without asking us first, or circumvent rate limits and access controls.
- Do not scrape, bulk-export, resell, or redistribute the service or its content, and do not use data obtained from Medows to train machine learning models.
- Do not upload malware, or content that is unlawful, defamatory, or that infringes someone else’s rights.
- Do not present AI output as an independent clinical opinion, or use Medows to generate documentation implying an assessment you did not personally perform.
Third-party services
Medows runs on infrastructure operated by others — database and authentication (Supabase), hosting (Vercel), and AI models (Google Gemini). Your use of Medows is therefore also subject to the availability and the terms of those providers. We choose them carefully and describe their role in the Privacy Policy, but we do not control them and are not responsible for their outages or changes.
Ownership
- The clinical content you enter remains yours (and your institution’s, where its policies say so). We claim no ownership over it.
- You grant us the limited permission needed to run the service — to store, process, transmit, and display your content back to you and to the people you have shared it with, and to send the relevant parts to the AI provider when you use an AI feature. Nothing more.
- The Medows software, interface, name, and brand marks remain ours. These terms do not grant a licence to copy, modify, or reverse-engineer them.
- If you send us feedback or a feature request, we may act on it without obligation or payment.
Availability and changes
Medows is offered free to individual clinicians and is under active development. We do not promise an uptime level, a support response time, or that any particular feature will keep working the way it does today. Features may be added, changed, or withdrawn, and maintenance may make the service unavailable without notice. Keep a fallback — your list should never exist only inside Medows on a day when it matters.
No warranty
Medows is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, accuracy of AI outputs, or fitness for any particular clinical purpose. Use at your own professional discretion.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Medows and its developers shall not be liable for any clinical outcomes, data loss, or damages arising from the use of this tool. The treating physician bears full responsibility for patient care decisions. This includes indirect and consequential loss, lost data, and any claim arising from an AI output you acted on. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our own negligence, or for fraud.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Medows and its developers against claims arising from your use of the service in breach of these terms — in particular, entering data you were not authorised to enter, granting access to someone not entitled to it, or using Medows in a way your institution’s policies prohibit.
Data and termination
You may delete your patients or account at any time. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms, and to suspend or discontinue the service itself. Upon termination, your data will be permanently deleted; export anything you need to keep before you delete an account, because deletion cannot be reversed. Backups roll off on their own schedule, so a deleted record may persist in an encrypted backup for a short period before it is overwritten.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and any dispute arising from them will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of competent jurisdiction in India. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
Changes to terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. Continued use of Medows after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms; if a change is material, we will make a reasonable effort to flag it in the app before it takes effect.
